Yay for making it through the 1st trimester! This week was a great week because it marked the official "telling" of the big news to all of our friends. We were extremely happy with the fabulously excited response all of our friends gave us. And it was also funny hearing how many people had their suspicions about whether or not we were pregnant. We also told our church friends who found it pretty hilarious how I had developed a communion "fake out" as I call it for church service. I knew that if I didn't take the wine during communion people would immediately figure out that I was pregnant. So each week I'd take my wafer and pretend to dunk it in the wine but didn't really. So to watching eyes no one knew my little secret, which apparently worked quite well. Tom and I also told all of our coworkers who also greeted us with very excited responses. I have one coworker who is pregnant and due in just one month so it's been nice now having her be able to share some tips with me. In general, it just feels wonderful to finally be able to talk about it out in the open.
This week I also had one morning where I didn't feel nauseous at all, which I felt was a huge blessing since I haven't had one of those mornings in quite some time. It hasn't lasted but it definitely gave me hope of better mornings to come.
Here's the news on Baby G for this week and the great developments they have made....
By now the baby weighs a full half-ounce and is about the size of a large plum. The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. The baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. If my abdomen were to be prodded, the baby will squirm in response. The fetal digestive system is beginning to practice contraction movements so she or he can eat someday, and their bone marrow is busy making white blood cells. The pituitary gland has started producing the hormones that'll enable them to make babies of their own in a couple of decades.
And last but not least is baby bump picture for week 12 which as you can see is just starting to protrude!
When Christy was in her first trimester, we were at church doin the same as you. Trying to hide the facts until we were past the first 3 months. So there's this brilliantly fertility aware woman in our church. Christy made the unknowingly fatal mistake of sitting down for a brief moment. In, no kidding, 30 seconds, Danya was there with a cup of water for her and after the service came right up and said "How far along are you?" Not a doubt or hesitation in her mind? That's talent.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and yours. We are very thrilled and excited for you.
We really appreciate that Marshall! It is funny how some people just have that baby radar huh. I had a lot of people who just had that "feeling" about me too. Thanks again and hope to see your super cute family sometime soon!
